Il gruppo nasce nel 2009 su iniziativa del chitarrista Lorenzo Costantini e del bassista Claudio Maimone, memorie storiche di quel momento magico vissuto in Italia nei primi anni ’70 in cui i concerti dei Jethro Tull rappresentavano una chiave di lettura fondamentale del panorama non solo musicale ma anche socio-culturale e di costume.

L’intento dei nostri è proprio quello di cercare di ricreare quell’energia che i Jethro Tull dei primi anni sapevano trasmettere dal vivo, anche per tramandare alle generazioni più giovani un’eredità, un patrimonio di emozioni uniche accumulato assistendo alle performance più rappresentative del gruppo di Ian Anderson (al Teatro Brancaccio di Roma nel 1971 e al PalaEur sempre a Roma nel 1972 e 1973).

Negli anni la band ha subito varie trasformazioni ma dall'inizio il flautista e cantante Alex Mevi ha contribuito come frontman del gruppo.

Nel tempo sono subentrati il chitarrista Alberto Sorrentino al posto di Lorenzo Costantini che si è ritirato, il tastierista Francesco De Renzi al posto di Gianluca De Rossi (primo tastierista degli Undertull e fondatore della prog-band Taproban) e il batterista Luciano Nevi.

Nel passato hanno suonato con gli Undertull anche Gabriele Cannone e Stefano Fabiani che si sono alternati alla batteria e Marco Capitanio alle tastiere.

The band was established in late 2009 by the guitarist Lorenzo Costantini and bassist Claudio Maimone, historical memories of that magical moment experienced in Italy in the early 70s, in which Jethro Tull concerts represented a fundamental key to understanding the panorama not only of music but also of socio-cultural customs.

The intent of the band is try to recreate the energy that Jethro Tull of the early years transmitted in their live show, passing to younger generations a legacy and a wealth of unique emotions accumulated by attending the most representative performances of Ian Anderson's group (at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome in 1971 and at the PalaEur also in Rome in 1972 and 1973).

Over the years the band has various transformations but from the beginning the flautist and singer Alex Mevi has contributed as the group's frontman.

Other new entries: the guitarist Alberto Sorrentino in place of Lorenzo Costantini who's retired, the keyboardist Francesco De Renzi in place of Gianluca De Rossi (first keyboard player of Undertull and founder of the prog-band Taproban) and Luciano Nevi on drums.

In the past also played with Undertull Gabriele Cannone and Stefano Fabiani on drums and Marco Capitanio on keyboards.
